India’s film industry is entering a new era of inclusivity. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has introduced a mandate requiring all films to include subtitles and audio descriptions in order to obtain certification for release.

This move ensures that cinema becomes more accessible for people with hearing and visual impairments, expanding the audience base for filmmakers and distributors. For production houses and post-production teams, this also opens opportunities in accessibility services, subtitling, dubbing, and localization workflows.
